Skyhawks nation is excited to announce the hiring of Jeremy Bell as the 2025 Defensive Coordinator & Strength/Conditioning Coach for our CJFL Skyhawks Football Team. Coach Bell brings over 15 years of experience as a player and coach to our football program, with a proven track record of success at every level of the game. As a former player and former coach with the Okanagan Sun, Coach Jeremy brings with him the mindset of what it takes to be a champion! His dedication to mentorship, skill development, and fostering a winning culture has made him a respected leader both on and off the field.
Playing Career:
Okanagan Sun (CJFL) – 4-year starter at defensive back and punt returner (2005-2009).
University of Alberta (U SPORTS) – (2010-2011).

Strength and Conditioning Expertise:
Jeremy has over 12 years of experience developing athletes across 17 different sports. His training programs have produced:
7 athletes invited to the CFL National Scouting Combine.
21 U SPORTS scholarship athletes and 4 NCAA Division 1 athletes.
14 Provincial / National team athletes
Coach Bell has also had the opportunity to train a number of CFL players as well as a prominent NFL player while he was with the Tennessee Titans.
Additionally, Jeremy has worked extensively with provincial and national sport organizations, providing strength training and educational programming to help athletes and coaches optimize performance.

Jeremy’s passion for coaching began at 16, and his commitment to the game has only grown since. A firm believer in the transformative power of football, he strives to mentor and inspire athletes to reach their full potential both on the field and in life. His ability to communicate effectively, build trust, and create common ground has been instrumental in helping teams and individuals achieve their goals.
Jeremy credits football with shaping his character and providing invaluable life lessons. His mission is to help the next generation of athletes develop resilience, accountability, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Skyhawks Nation is excited to announce, hailing from just down the road in Kingston, ON, Coach Matt McDonald will be returning for his second season as the Offensive Coordinator for the Quinte Skyhawks.
McDonald, led the Kingston Area Secondary School Athletics Association (KASSAA) in receiving touchdowns and yards with Holy Cross SS in 2014 and 2017 and top 10 receiving yards with the Kingston Grenadiers before signing on to represent Queen’s University as a Receiver for the Gaels. He also was recognized by Kingston Football Officials Association 2018 with the Wayne Norris Award. This is awarded annually to one athlete graduating secondary school who demonstrated outstanding leadership and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
At Queen’s McDonald, completed his Bachelor of Arts, Economics Degree in 2022 and graduated from the football program. He went on to represent the Quinte Skyhawks in 2022 before retiring from his playing career to pursue a career in coaching. Also 2022, he returned to Holy Cross to give back to the program that had giving him so much as a young athlete. Spring 2023, saw him coaching receivers again with the Kingston Grenadiers (also in 2019) and back at Holy Cross that fall.
McDonald views 2024 as his breakout year, coaching young men and women, aged 14-25, year-round as an Offensive Coordinator in three different leagues: the Ontario Women’s Intercollegiate Football Association (OWIFA) for Queen’s University, the Ontario Summer Football League (OSFL) for the Kingston Grenadiers and the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) with the Quinte Skyhalks. Leading each team to record-breaking success last season. He has already committed to each of these teams for 2025.
McDonald, a multi-sport athlete himself, can be found at the baseball diamond when he is not coaching football. As a Provincial level umpire he works in the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association for the Kingston Thunder Baseball, the Senior Men’s League, high school baseball in the region and the Ontario University Athletics (OUA).
